We live in times of superheroes. Layers, masks and superhuman abilities have taken over cinemas, books, clothing and television ...

In the latter instance, the variety of offers have increased. Series like Super Girl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash complement and further enrich this fantasy world, where the main objective is to safeguard the human race.

American actress Violett Beane, who previously had seen in the thriller series The Leftovers, and is now responsible for giving life to heroin comic Jesse Quick in the second season of The Flash, knows this. In an interview with La Prensa, she talks about heroes and villains, and the differences between them.

Do you believe the world needs a superhero? And Why?

I think there's a lot of crime and violence in our world now, and I think having someone out there fighting against that with a superpower would be amazing! But even in "super-worlds" there's certain villains a superhero has a hard time battling. Ultimately I think I would feel safer!

What things can make a normal person in a superhero?

There are all sorts of different ways to get super powers! Often times it starts from some sort of accident like an explosion or experiment. That makes the most sense to me because it could possibly happen in real life! If you're experimenting with various chemicals and injecting them into a person, something's bound to happen! Why not superpowers?

Anyone can become a villain, that's easy. But staying honest and kind and helpful takes a certain strength, and those are the heroes.

Everyone talks about how fantastic it would be to be a superhero, but what do you consider would believe is the more weakness of a superhero or their responsibilities more difficult?

Superheroes are like any other celebrity when it comes down to it. They are looked up to and are always being watched. I feel like at some point every superhero feels like they're carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, that if they don't protect and save everyone then they aren't doing what they're meant to. It isn't fair to them at all!

If you could have a super power, which would you choose and why?

It would be pretty cool to be able to read minds! But only if I also had the ability to turn it off when I wanted because that would become TMI (Too Much Information) pretty fast.

In the series your Dad tries to rescue you, and in some part he makes pact with Zoom. At that moment anyone could believe this act turns him into a villain. What does it take to turn someone into a villain?

Harrison Wells has had to make a lot of hard decisions, and I think like any parent, he was doing what ever he could to get his daughter back. Jesse has a much harder time understanding that but when her father is taken she realizes what was going through his mind. I think every person has to make terrible and hard decisions sometimes, and that's not what can turn them evil. I think people who have no remorse for the pain they cause are the true villains.

What is the difference between a hero and a villain? Apart from trying to destroy or control the World.

The kind of person you are. Anyone can become a villain, that's easy. But staying honest and kind and helpful takes a certain strength, and those are the heroes.

Have you considered how Earth 2 version would be?

I'd like to think Earth-2 version of myself is some sort of successful rap artist! I'm so terrible at it, but it would be pretty cool to be good at it somewhere.

Do you have someone in your life that you consider a superhero? Could you tell us a little bit about it?

My mom, definitely. She raised my brother and I all by herself and still pursued the careers and hobbies that made her happy. I am so grateful to have her as my mama!
