According to information disclosed by the Public Prosecutor's Office, on Nov. 17, 2014, the victim was near the Seafood Market on the Cinta Costera when she met Cortés, who offered her a cleaning job.
He asked for the victim's passport to make a copy, and then took her to a vehicle. The victim was driven to a building where she was threatened by a person who spoke English. That person told her she would have to be a prostitute in the Bahamas or her family would be harmed.
The person, who has not been identified, also allegedly took naked photos of the victim at gunpoint.
The victim escaped at Tocumen International Airport, were she told police about the incident and the arrest was made.
