12/12/2012 - Around 125,000 Christmas trees have been imported into Panama, the Ministry of Agricultural Development reported today.
César Maure, director of agricultural quarantine for the ministry, said technicians from the ministry traveled to Canada in the summer to ensure that the trees met the quality standards to be able to enter the country. The technicians ensured the quality and condition of the trees, and that they are free of insects.
About 34,000 of the trees came from the United States this year, and the rest were Canadian.
