17/10/2012 - Police tonight cleared protesters off the streets of Colón who were demonstrating against the proposed law that would allow the government to sell land within the Colón Free Zone.
The protests took place between Fourth and 16th streets. Protesters threw bottles at police, who responded by firing tear gas. Protesters erected barricades on Avenida Central to prevent police from entering the area. Members of the Frente Amplio por Colón barricaded themselves inside the San José Paulino Church.
The protests began this morning, and police took six people into custody.
