26/01/2012 - “You, with me, at your office, acknowledged me acts of illegal tracking against my family and me”, said this Thursday, Jan. 26 Colombian journalist Hollman Morris, when referring to the case of former Administrative Department of Security (DAS) director, María del Pilar Hurtado, who is currently under asylum in Panama since 2010.
As part of a visit to Panama, the Colombian journalist said former DAS director also acknowledged - in front of him – she preformed tracking actions against embassies and the Colombian political opposition.
According to Hollman Morris, this was made by Hurtado in presence of also former DAS director, Andrés Peñate (November 2005 – August 2007).
On the other hand, NGO José Alvear Restrepo Lawyers’ Association member, Luis Pérez, who is also in Panama, mentioned the friendship between Hurtado and former Colombian president, Álvaro Uribe Vélez (2002-2010).
About the latter, Pérez said “if it wasn’t for the privilege he has he should already be in jail as many members of his government who are already being prosecuted”.
Morris and Pérez are expecting to meet with several Panamanian authorities to whom they will request Hurtados’ asylum revocation.
