02/01/2013 - Attorney General Ana Belfon said today that she will have a zero tolerance policy toward corruption.
The head of the Public Ministry - who replaced José Ayú Prado - emphasized that the entity is given to investigate corruption, therefore she can not tolerate any corruption within the office.
Belfon's statements came after a meeting with officials of the public prosecutor office. She said she called the meeting on her first day in office to lay the foundation for how it will operate under her management.
She said that the meeting was not called because she believed that there is any corruption happening now, but because she wanted to establish a structure for her term.
She will be in office until 2014.
