21/12/2012 - Panameñista Legislator José Isabel Blandón criticized again today the appointment of Ana Belfon as the new head of the Public Ministry (MP).
Belfon, who was a prosecutor during the military dictatorship, was one of the main persecutors of the Civilian Crusade, Blandón said.
He added that she signed blank arrest warrants against members of the group, which demonstrated that she "has the ability of servility to authority."
Blandón also attacked the comments made yesterday by Tourism Director Solomon Shamah, who claimed that President Ricardo Martinelli didn't know Belfon until she was his legal advisor at the Presidency.
In this regard, Blandón said that Belfon formed part of the team that drafted the safety proposal for Martinelli in the last election campaign.
Meanwhile, Front for Democracy leader Mariano Mena announced that this group has planned an assembly for Jan. 10 to discuss the appointment of Belfon as well as José Ayú Prado as a Supreme Court justice.
