16/12/2012 - Panameñista Legislator José Isabel Blandón said that the ruling alliance is trying to divide his party by attempting to recruit former Minister Alberto Vallarino as the candidate for the Molirena party.
Blandón said that Vallarino, who is the Panameñista vice president, has no intention of leaving the party.
Blandón said that the attempts by former Panameñista legislators to recruit Vallarino are simply an attempt to divide the party because they fear the presidential candidacy of Juan Carlos Varela.
"In the ranks of the ruling party, there is an effort being made to prevent Juan Carlos Varela from winning the presidency," Blandón said.
The legislator said that the party is engaged with talks with the Partido Popular to form an alliance for the next election.
