Pro-Escuelas program comes to an end

28/11/2012 - The Pro-Escuelas program, an initiative sponsored by La Prensa, closed its 2012 season Tuesday.

This year six teachers were integrated into the program that has benefited more than 400 teachers from primary schools since 2005.

Jacqueline Wright, coordinator of the project, said it will go from a three-year program to a two-year program next year.

Wright says that the program is aimed at offering teachers training in leadership in the classroom and the community in general. Teachers receive training and seminars in the use of technology. The goal is to have that knowledge transmitted to the students.

Wendy Tribaldos, manager of the learning educational program, appealed to companies to join the project that supports the Panamanian education system in a very concrete way.

Iris Barba, Jeanette Pineda, Auristela de Meneses, Janet Alonso, Elvia Chávez and Vicenta Toribio were the teachers who participated this year and who will graduate from the program next year.

Teachers involved in the program are selected through a contest which takes place in January of each year.
