12/01/2013 - About 5,000 people marched in the polleras folklore parade today in Las Tablas, the third time the event has been held.
Former Attorney General Nedelka Díaz said the high cost of the traditional dresses have become a burden on many families.
The parade was headed by President Ricardo Martinelli.
Organizer Aida Díaz said the event has grown each year. Delegations participated from all over the country.
Registration began this morning for the polleras parade in Los Santos at the Manuel María Tejada Roca School in Las Tablas.
Those registering for the event included representatives of folk delegations.
The parade celebrates traditional clothes and music of Panama. It is expected to attract thousands of marchers.
