26/01/2012 - President of International Transparency (TI), German Peter Eigen said this Thursday, Jan. 26 without access of information, democratic structures cannot operate.
During the conference “Transparency as a fundamental axis for the democratic and business strengthening”, Eigen said in the Panamanian capital that governments should guarantee accountability and to custody the governments resources.
Eigen said during his exposition that governments cannot success by their own, since they need of the civil society and the commercial sector. Panama needs to understand the citizenship will have more trust on politicians if they have access to information”, he said.
The conference was performed this Thursday within the framework of the tenth anniversary of the Transparency Law.
Among those invited were: founder of La Prensa newspaper, I. Roberto Eisenmann; TI Panamanian Chapter directive, Fernando Berguido; former president of the National Securities Commission, Carlos Barsallo; and the executive vice president of the Securities Exchange of Panama, Roberto Brennes.
