Two killed in Capira landslides

Two people died this morning in a landslide in Nuevo Arenosa, Capira, when their home was buried. Civil defense authorities also reported that the Cirí de los Sotos community was completely flooded. The heavy rains also destroyed a bridge in the community of Ollas Arriba. The Ministry of Housing and Land Management is housing people in temporary shelter facilities, and said that 1,000 people are affected. Arraiján Mayor Manolín Samaniego said that flooding in his district are unprecedented, and that the communities of Villa Diana, Parque del Oeste and Hato Montaña are completely under water. La Chorrera Mayor Themistocles Herrera ordered the suspension of today's independence day parade due to the flooding.
