22/10/2012 - Protests and demonstrations against the law which allows the sale of lands in the Colón Free Zone continued today.
During clashes with police this morning, six people were arrested and at least one person was injured. The injury occurred during clashes with police over the closure of Vía Transísmica.
Isidro Solís, of Buena Vista, reported that protesters closed a road int he community, but were cleared from the area by police.
Agents from border patrol agency Senafront have been stationed in Villa Guadalupe, San Andres, Nuevo San Juan and Nueo Providencia to maintain order, Solís said.
"This situation has people frightened," he said.
Education union leader Carlos Baltazar said that police are repressing people.
"The people will resist, Colón is going to fight," he said.
