10/11/2012 - The eleven finalists have been set for the 2012 National Speech Competition that will take place Nov. 18 at the Anayansi Theater in the Atlapa Convention Center.
This year the competition has the motto: "Panama, the conquest of the future: Commemorating the discovery of the Pacific Ocean."
The finalists are: Jorge Ruiz Flores, of the colegio Padre Segundo Familiar Cano de Monagrillo (Herrera); Daniel Acosta, of I.P.T. de Veraguas; Florisel Escudero, of the colegio Manuel María Tejada Roca (Los Santos); Aristides Ábrego, colegio San Agustín de Kankintú (Comarca Ngäbe Buglé); Valeria Dubenko, of the Academia Santa Rosa de Lima (Coclé).
Also Johan Ortega, of The Panama Preparatory School (Panama); Zulimey Beitía, of the Instituto Bilingüe de Changuinola (Bocas del Toro); Fabio Caballero, of the colegio San José La Salle (Colón); Erick Maturana, of the Centro Escolar Básico general El Zapallal (Darién); Rolando Jiménez, of the Instituto Cacique Olodebilinguinya (Comarca Guna Yala) and Suellen Ayala, of the Instituto David, Chiriquí.
Abrego is the first contestant from the Comarca Ngäbe Buglé.
