The Cabinet Council today passed a bill that would return Panama to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen).
According to the Secretary of State Communication, the Cabinet Council approved the law based on the fact that the Supreme Court declared leaving the organization to be unconstitutional.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Rómulo Roux explained that the Cabinet considered it necessary to re-establish the relationship with Parlacen. It will notify the organization that it has followed existing internal mechanisms to bring the country back into that body.
A draft law will now be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.
