28/06/2012 - The government will work jointly with the Board of Portobelo and San Lorenzo in order to improve, safeguard and restore the value of such important sites for the world, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The document also mentions the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) issued a document reiterating the existing concern for this sites’ situation due to the fast degradation of their edifications, and included them in the list of World Heritage in Danger.
The document mentions that Panama acknowledges the need of support and international technical cooperation for the restoration of this cultural asset within the short, middle and long period.
