Martinelli says corredors ought to be free in December

President Ricardo Martinelli today that the Corredor Norte and Corredor Sur will be free on certain days in December to reduce traffic, but said that the state will have to pay for the lack of toll collection. Martinelli spoke of the possibility of making the corredors free on Dec. 7 and Dec. 23, as these days are expected to be especially busy due to the holidays. On Friday, the president said that the highways would not be free for the entire month, as has been the case in the previous years, as the tolls are needed to pay the loans for the purchase of the highways. Suspending the collection of tolls reduces traffic jams at the tollbooths.
