Minister of Commerce and Industry Ricardo Quijano said today that he does not agree with the statements given by former Customs Director Gloria Moreno de López who said the government is becoming "militarized."
"That's false," Quijano said, adding that the proposed merger between Customs and Immigration, which prompted the resignaton of Moreno de López, is an "important administrative strategy."
According to Quijano, the departure of the former Customs director "does not mean anything" and that the government is still going well.
"We continue to work with the same dynamic as we did the first day," he said.
Since stepping down, Moreno de López has denounced the excessive power that has been granted to Minister of Public Security José Raúl Mulino due to the merger. Mulino has also clashed with other top officials recently, most notably Education Minister Lucy Molinar.
