13/08/2012 - Teachers’ union leader and Ministry of Education (Meduca) authorities signed this Monday, Aug. 13 an agreement calling off the strike established by teachers last week, reason why school classes will be resumed tomorrow.
The agreement was signed by Ministry of Education, Lucy Molinar and representatives from teachers’ unions at the Metropolitan Curia.
A meeting between union leaders and Meduca authorities will be held next Aug. 25 at the Metropolitan Curia in order to resume the round tables.
In this regard, union leaders said they expect to solve issues regarding the right to form a union and students’ conditions, among others.
The reinstatement of two teachers and the parents’ representative in the teachers’ association, all from Bocas del Toro, was reached last Saturday, Aug. 11.
In addition, the creation of a special commission in order to guarantee the rights of those teachers dismissed during the investigation of the cases, including leader Andrés Rodríguez.
On the other hand, Molinar also said a young student has gone missing since last Friday, Aug. 10, reason why they will perform the proper investigation of the case.
