Minister of the Presidency Roberto Henriquez said today that the government is not afraid to take on the problems facing the country.
"There is no area in Panama with a problem that this government is not facing up to," the minister said during a tour of the "jumbo fairs" with President Ricardo Martinelli today. "The others were hiding, but we have faced them."
Henríquez says the government is concentrating on sensitive points such as rising food prices by expanding the number of "jumbo fairs," which are government-subsidized food stores that offer lower prices.
He noted that the government is also addressing higher prices by developing a cold chain, that will increase the output of local farmers, and supporting farmers in other ways.
"I think the big difference between our government and the previous ones is that they gave excuses to all the problems we have faced," he said.
