Truck removed from Pan-American Highway
28/03/2013 - At approximately 10:45 a.m. today, a fuel truck was removed from an on-ramp at Howard where it had overturned yesterday evening.
The truck was carrying 9,200 gallons of fuel. It closed the Pan-American Highway for about 12 hours between the Bridge of the Americas and Arraiján.
The truck was removed by a crane. Traffic was diverted to the Centenario Bridge.
The head of the civil defense agency Sinaproc, Arturo Alvarado, said that the investigation has started and that "forceful" action will be taken against the owner of the truck.
The official said that the company, which has not yet been identified, was irresponsible in the handling of this accident.
Alvarado said that the fuel spilling from the truck was contained at midnight. But the company only started cleaning up from the accident this morning.
