Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD) Legislator Raul Pineda said today that the electoral reforms being proposed by the Cambio Democrático (CD) are aimed at helping the Molirena party.
He said that changes to the way legislators are elected are aimed at boosting the chances of the country's fourth-largest party, which is aligned with the CD.
As an example, he used San Miguelito, which has seven seast in the Assembly. Pineda said the changes being contemplated will allow the smaller parties to win one of the seats, especially if it is allied with the CD.
08/09/2012 - He said that in past elections, parties often formed alliances within districts to oppose a particular candidate. He said that this tactic will be removed from the equation if the reforms are passed as is.
"Why is that now wrong?" he asked.
