PRD files complaint against reforms
23/04/2013 - The opposition PRD has filed a complaint before the Supreme Court claiming the recently passed electoral reforms are unconstitutional.
The lawsuit states those reforms are inappropriate and "tailored for the electoral aspirations of the government."
"This goes against the electoral processes of the country and has clear signs of unconstitutionality because it curtails the suffrage and undermines the political parties." the complaint states.
PRD official Roberto Abrego Torres said that the complaint also states that the Tribunal Electoral was excluded from the process and that it has already published the General Elections Regulations for 2014.
