24/12/2012 - The founders of the Molirena party are considering nominating a candidate for the party's presidential primaries in March 2013.
Molirena Legislator Jorge Alberto Rosas said that the founders, who are at odds with the party's leadership and their decision to form an alliance with the ruling Cambio Democrático (CD), feel that nominating a candidate will attract the support of a majority of the party.
He added that blindly forming an alliance with the CD "threatens the existence of the Molirena party."
The politician said that a candidate has not yet been identified, but that a decision is expected in January.
Arturo González Baso, legal adviser to the Molirena, has said that any non-party member who wants to run in the primary must announce their candidacy by Jan. 11..
The Molirena party recently amended its by-laws to allow non-party members to seek the nomination for president.
