06/12/2012 - Minister of the Presidency Roberto Henríquez said today that Alberto Vallarino, vice president of the Panameñista Party, could run for president as a candidate of the Cambio Democrático (CD).
"He is an option," the minister said, saying there have been informal talks on the subject.
"Vallarino is an interesting candidate with great potential, as is former Panama Canal Authority Administrator Alberto Alemán Zubieta," said the minister.
He said that the candidate will ultimately be decided in the party's primary. They will also face competition from CD members such as former Minister of Social Development Guillermo Ferrufino and Small Business Administrator Guiselle Burrillo.
"We have a lot of high-profile members of the party, and the work they have done is very appreciated," he said.
