Minister of Health Franklin Vergara asked medical workers today to end their strike that started Monday.
Vergara said that the major problem is a lack of communication rather than core issues, and that they can be readily solved through dialogue. However, he said that the dialogue would not start until the strike is ended.
He made those statements at a cermeony lauding the efforts of employees of Ricardo Pérez for their efforts at preventing the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
The first session between striking workers and government officials was slated for 3 p.m. today, but it is unclear if the meeting will happen. Social Security Deputy Director Marlon Souza said that the agency will not attend unless the strike is ended, something that workers say they are not prepared to do.
