Bernal says political patronage will increase ahead of election
01/05/2013 - Constitutionalist Miguel Antonio Bernal said that "political patronage campaigns" will increase as the country moves closer to the 2014 elections.
According to Bernal, there will be more hams and turkeys handed out to sway people to support a particular candidate.
The professor also said that citizens and public servants will face pressure to support a particular party. He said that candidates will continue to promote the message that the best way for people to become enriched is to support a particular candidate.
"The electorate will become a malleable and predictable mass in 2014," he said if this patronage is allowed to continue.
