It is expected to take several days.

Talks have started over the filling of the various commissions within the National Assembly.

The Assembly has 15 commissions. Yesterday, PRD Deputy Javier Ortega said that his party would lead five of them. He said he is hoping to continue to lead the Municipal Affairs Commission and keep his seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Fellow Deputy Pedro Miguel González is in line to remain at chairman of the Commission of Government, which he chaired in the previous period.

Panameñistas are set to chair the Budget and Credentials committee. Party sources said the Budget Committee will be led by Adolfo Valderrama or Jorge Iván Arrocha.

Panameñista Deputy Luis Eduardo Quirós said that this process will last several days, because there has to be a consensus between the different members of the legislative alliance, which includes members from five parties and an independent.

Quirós confirmed that it is very likely that some CD members will chair committees. That party has contributed a significant number of votes to the alliance. Those members have split from their parties leadership to ally themselves with the Panameñistas.

"There will be governance not only between two parties, but between all the political groups that make up the Assembly," said CD Deputy Hector Valdes Carrasquilla.

All 71 members have to belong to at least one committee. All committees have nine members except the Budget Committee, which has 15.
