National Assembly President Rubén De León today announced the legislative agenda for the upcoming year.

Accompanied by deputies Luis Eduardo Quirós, Dana Castañeda, Héctor Valdés Carrasquilla, Leandro Ávila, Quibian Panay and Juan Carlos Arango, De León said the legislature will address issues such as  public procurement, electoral reforms, changes to the penal code and the revision of the law on transparency and accountability.

On changes to the public procurement law, De León reported that a commission will be formed with the executive to agree on the proposals that will be presented.

"We will work to improve democracy, the institutional framework and the rule of law," said De León.

The deputies are still in the process of making appointments to the 15 legislative committees. De León heads a coalition of deputies from a number of parties, as well as independent Ana Matilde Goméz.
